Do you know what clean is?

Writer: Gerard HorriganGerard Horrigan

The one good thing that this pandemic has brought is an ever-greater focus on cleaning, its importance, and how things are cleaned. Everyone is now suddenly focused on their cleaning regimes, reviewing their processes and taking note of what is precisely in the sluice room. We see every day new sanitising products, fogging machines, and products that allegedly keep surfaces clean for long periods of time. However, is any of this effective if the surface underneath isn't clean? What do you think?

I believe training and fully understanding the process of cleaning a surface properly is now an essential question that businesses need to ask their service providers/cleaning operatives. We have seen through this pandemic all sorts of claims from products about their revolutionary way of sanitising surfaces but no mention of the need to have a clean surface underneath. This leads to a false sense of security for the end-user.

Now more than ever, the training of cleaning operatives is absolutely essential. They are now at the forefront of the sector and generally one of the main topics in management meetings.

Cleaning has always been one of those services that only gets highlighted when it's not right. Not anymore! As everyone looks to our industry now in their hour of need let's make sure we have the best-trained operatives, managers and contractors to see us through. Do not be afraid to ask for help. Get a professional in to assist you. You can not afford not to.
